Dr. Tia Nelson
Tia Nelson, DVM is a Montana native. She grew up in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School (Go, Bison!). After shoeing horses in the Helena area from 1980 to 1995, she attended Colorado State University, graduating from the Veterinary Program in 1999. At CSU she was active in The American Association of Equine Practitioners, ultimately as president of that organization during her third year of veterinary school. She returned to Helena, which she considers to be her hometown, after graduation and was part of the original partnership that designed and built the Companion Animal Hospital. She left that practice to start her own practice, Total Dynamic Balance, in 2002 and finally returned to the Companion Animal Hospital January 1, 2011. She is looking forward to creating a full service equine and small animal hospital, augmenting Western medicine with Acupuncture, Chiropractic, nutritional counseling, and prolotherapy. Her interest in performance problems and lameness in horses continues to be a big part of her practice. Hoof care is provided both on site and at the farm for convenience. This practice is devoted to high quality, compassionate care for your animal companions, we are looking forward to serving you and your companions.
